Remodelling of Montjuïc Olympic Stadium Due for Completion at End of February 2008

The Olympic Stadium at Montjuïc, which was named the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in 2001 in tribute to the President of the Catalonian regional government, was originally designed by architect Doménech i Roura and first opened for the World Fair in 1929. The stadium was later transformed for the 1992 Olympic Games, with only the original façade being preserved. As part of a project by the team of architects at 2BMF (2Buxadé, Margarit, Ferrando, SL Arquitectos), the stadium is now being faithfully reconstructed using a construction process in which everything is done at the same time, by levels of execution in accordance with the modulation of the stone cladding.
