The platform viaduct over the river Tajo, one of the future landmarks of the Spanish High Speed Line, has been finished

Adif Alta Velocidad has finished the execution of the viaduct platform over the river Tajo, from the High Speed Line Madrid-Extremadura. Once finished, it will be one of the viaducts with the highest arch of this type in the world, for high speed rail use.

This work finishes the structure of this viaduct, which will allow the continuity of the line along the platform from Cáceres to the connection branches in Plasencia.

The section Cañaveral – Alcántara reservoir, from the High Speed Line Madrid – Extremadura, placed between Talayuela and Cáceres, is 6,492.168 m long. It crosses Cañaveral and Garrovillas, in the province of Cáceres, belonging to the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

This structure, placed at the boundary of both towns, is its most remarkable element. It is 1,488 m long and has been planned on an arched central span of 324 m, measuring 90 m above the average level of the river.

The works are being executed by Copisa in a Joint Venture with Copasa.
